Monday, May 24, 2010
Srilanka managed to secure a win in the second T20 Cricket Match against New Zealand. The 2-match series was drawn 1-1. Earlier the day, New Zealand's captain Daniel Vettori won the toss and chose to bat first. The decision proved desperately wrong as srilankan semer Nuwan Kulasekara claimed three wickets in his very first over. The New Zealand top order fell like a pile of cards. At one stage New Zealand lost 5 wickets for just 13 runs. But formidable Daniel Vettori and Nathan McCullum played on loose deliveries and managed to add 45 runs for the sixth wicket. In the end New Zealand lost all its wickets for just 81 runs. In reply, Srilankan openers never felt any pressure. Mahela Jayawardene scored a quick 17 runs (2x4, 1x6) of just 12 balls. Perera played his part scoring 24 runs (2x4, 1x6). Dilshan gave a good partnership to him and added 42 runs. In the end, srilanka won the match with the loss of just 3 wickets and 4.3 overs left. Nuwan Kulasekara was named the Man of the match. Daniel Vettori was chosen the Man of the series for his performance in both the matches.
